What is the Clamshell Beach Resort?
Clamshell Beach Resort is a year-round vacation community located on the southern shore of Clamshell Lake. It is part of the Whitefish Chain of Lakes in north central Minnesota. Its address is 35197 South Clamshell Drive, Pequot Lakes, MN. 56472.
The Resort was founded in 1938 and has had several owners since then. You can read more about its history here.
The Resort amenities feature a lodge with a snack bar and game room; two swimming pools; a children’s “cabin” playhouse; a sport court to play basketball, pickleball or tennis; two playgrounds; a volleyball court; a clean swimming beach with water sports; boat docks; a public boat launch; and several public firepits.
What is our Home Owners Association?
In 2008, the resort was approved by the Minnesota Commerce Department to sell its resort cottages on a Fractional Basis. This fractional ownership resort model is used throughout the United States in exclusive areas to provide a commonsense approach to buying a luxury asset without the hassles of maintenance. It also assures that people will continue to have access to public resources at the resort.
This means that you can purchase a 1/10 deeded share of a 3-, 4-, or 5-bedroom luxury cottage. Each 1/10 share affords 5 weeks of use per year for the owner. There is also the option of renting the unit out through the Association’s rental program.
Every cottage owner is automatically a member of our Homeowner’s Association. The Association is tasked with managing the common spaces at the resort, as well as managing the maintenance of the cottages and shared facilities, and the cottage rental program.
The Association is run by a volunteer Board of Directors who are elected by its members at an Annual Owner’s Meeting. It is responsible for complying with the Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act (MCIOA).
The Clamshell Beach Resort is managed by Westport Properties. It is a full-service property management company celebrating 30 years of service. They provide management services to homeowner’s associations and cooperatives.
You can rent a luxury Cottage at the Resort.
There are now a total of 24 3-, 4-, or 5-bedroom luxury cottages that were built to replace the previous cabins. The cottages are considered lakefront, lake view, or garden view. The new reunion cottages have been especially popular as families make their memories at the lake.
